An crazy match, with an amazing conclusion!
The Rats won +2 fame but lost the toss and peng Winners chose to receive, in order to get some early bash in on the rodents. By turn two of the first half 2 of the rats were out, one would be missing the next game and one would never play again! The chainsaw wielding Helmut Wolfe was having a great time slicing through the almost non-existent armour of the rats and the devastation would continue even after Helmut had been sent off as the five frenzied Norse players would continue to wreak havoc!
The Norse players decided to score on turn five, pressured by the rats and unable to sustain a secure cage, they decided to break through the rats defences and get in a relatively early TD.
It was unsurprising to see Mr Quicks most promising offspring jog out of the dugout, where he’d been hiding throughout the first drive. The inevitable one turn touchdown was attempted, Mr Quick Junior got handed the ball and rocketed down the pitch to level the score 1 all. Due to the sheer volume of casualties and knock outs suffered by the skaven so far, Mr Q Jr was unable to return to the dugout and remain safe, he would now need to stay on the pitch, I vulnerable to being bltxe by the Peng Winners.
The Norse received again and scored once more in good order leaving the skaven only one option, luckily Mr Q Jr was still around and able to pull off another one turner, levelling the score at two each. Unfortunately the rest of Quick Jr’s team were taking a pasting and as the first half closed out four skaven were lying broken in the dead and injured box, a corpse and three others that would be missing their next game, one of these was the rat ogre!
The second half was a crazy mess and in contrast to the first, only saw one touchdown. However it was a hard fought for score, with an end to end, and back to the end again, scrappy scramble!
The Norsemen kicked and braced themselves for yet another blistering touchdown by the skaven’s star, Mr Quick Jr, however disaster struck just as he was heading over the line as he slipped and went arse over tit, dropping the ball deep in the Norse half, luckily though he was unhurt by the fall. That wouldn’t last as to add injury to insult, a mercenary wizard the Norse manager had engaged the services of before the match, decided to ensure that Q Jr couldn’t jump to his feet and grab the ball again, by zapping him with a powerful lightning bolt! It worked and a smoking QJ was carried off badly hurt.
It looked bad for the rats now as the Norse team gathered the ball up and began the long drive up the pitch to the opposite end zone. It would take them 6 turns to make it within range of scoring. and even though the ranks of the skaven were considerably thinned, they still harried the Norse players every step of the way!
By turn 6 of the second half only four skaven were left on the pitch. A few of the Norse players had also been injured but with 5 in their D&I box and 4 in the KO box and the Norse ball carrier sat on the line, it looked very much like the game was done. Picture the scene, a Norse catcher set on the rats TD line, just left of centre, ball in hand and ready to score. One gutter runner had skirted the side Norse players that just a few paces back to tag the ball carrier and a skaven blitzer was lying prone off to the left. Another skaven blitzer was deep in the Norse half 8 paces from the opposite end zone and the only other surviving rat was stunned and surrounded.
All the Norse needed to do was push the pesky gutter runner away and the catcher could dance over the line. The blitz required a go for it and the team had a rerroll just in case, but Nuffle smirked and disaster struck! Double one!
It was the rats final turn. The blitzer lying to one side leapt up steamed in to smash the ball free, the gutter runner scooped it up, ran like the wind back down the pitch and launched a long pass to the waiting blitzer who caught it and headed for the end zone. With Two Norse turns remaining the rat headed across the pitch instead of scoring in hopes of securing the win but a Peary Norse bllitzer was able to dodge past the gutter runner a get a tackle zone on him.
In the final skaven turn the GR rushed down to assist and the following blitz secured the lead!
The Norse were unable to secure a TD in their last turn and the game ended 3-2 to Claude Reigns Supreme. However it looks grim for the skaven’s next match as only nine of the thirteen rats that started the game made it through unscathed!
