Draft Season 12 Rules

As we near the end of the season, it’s time to start thinking about the next one.

We will start in the new year, and here are some draft rules.  Up for discussion, but it’s not a democracy, so I’ll listen to what people have to say and then decide.

CURRENT SCHEDULE PLAN – random allocation of teams to 2/3 divisions, round robin.  Then the top half/third play each other to find a winner!  This avoids the season being too long, while finding a genuine winner.

  1. New teams, starting at 1100k, max 4 games (ideally against different opponents) in the off season as “pre-season training”.  My impression is that most people wanted this, so I was going for a level playing field, but if you feel strongly otherwise we can discuss!
  2. Goblins and Pact get the new positionals – if we can’t get OBBLM to do this, we’ll figure out a workaround.
  3. We will not use the Death Zone 2 Stadiums.
  4. We will use Death Zone 2 sideline staff in addition to CRP ones.  If you are planning to use one, let your opponent know in advance so they can read up!
  5. Brets and Khorne will be allowed, as standard.
  6. CRP inducements will be used, along with CRP spiralling expenses and inter-season stuff.

I will keep a list below of who is in, and if you want to declare a team then please do so!  I’ve made a guess, let me know if I’m wrong!  Smilies have confirmed team names too.

  1. Sann – Bretonnians 🙂
  2. Jip – Norse 🙂
  3. Spiky
  4. CPsyke – Goblins
  5. Kismet – Underworld 🙂
  6. Andswin – Wood Elf 🙂
  7. Mattwilts – Pro Elf Union 🙂
  8. Hawk
  9. Canteloup – Underworld
  10. Ragin – Undead 🙂
  11. Shortarse – Chaos Dwarf 🙂
  12. Outcast – 🙂
  13. Bron – Orcs
  14. PeteBunce – Chaos 🙂
  15. Wishazu – Norse
  16. Reedar – Orcs 🙂
  17. Nagrom – Norse 🙂

Roll up, roll up!

  1. Just to clarify..

So, we required to start a new team for the season, groovy. Please put me down for Underworld.

Do our 4 pre-season games have to be against different opponents (as was discussed)?

Has anyone seen a PDF of the new star players and coaching staff, for those of us that didn’t splash out on the new books?

  2. Yes you did JIp. The 2016 CRP. Thanks for the reminder. Some of the new stuff we are using is in the death zone books by the look of it, ie the coaching staff, so The Almanac looks like a good buy to compliment it.

I wonder if our other players that also feigned to splash out on the new rule book might benefit from a copy of the PDF too?

  3. No rule to cover tie breaks for standings are covered though. Might I put forward our previous rule for consideration: Combined TDS and Casualties.

The reason I believe that this is a fairer way to go is that it puts the more bash based teams on a more equal footing with AG and speed based teams. Bash teams only tend to get a few TDS at best but cause more casualties then AG based teams and vice versa.

Up until last season I think this was the rule in place and in my opinion is way fairer to those players that decide to go with bash over scoring teams.

In season 11 three teams contested the 3rd and 4th spots for the play offs, all on 23 points. With combined TDs and CAS as the tie break The Scumbags, a purely scoring based team, would have finished in 6th place with Ra’s Raiders in fourth and in the playoffs and Molten Fury in fifth place.

Who is to say that AG/speed based team warrents a top slot over a bash team like the Raiders or Fury. I believe it is a much harder choice to play a bash, low scoring team over a team that can score in one turn and make a much easier turn over when a team with poor ball handling skills makes a slip up.

Perhaps one of those teams deserved the slot over the scum as they could be considered harder to win with, with less TDS scored for sure. With a combined tie breaker however, both would have prevailed.

In fact the Ratty Scumbags didn’t beat either of them and made fourth place. Food for thought at the very least.

  4. Can you guess at spiky taking flings 😎 and Hawk ogres? As they don’t have a team I think you should allocate them for the sake of humanity.
